YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/.  The information technologies is the only sector of the Armenian economy, the growth of which depends on the number of specialists, Hovhannes Avoyan, President of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), told reporters in Novosti International press center in Yerevan on Wednesday.

“If the number of specialists rises twice, the sphere will grow twice as well, that is why UITE will primarily focus on education in 2013 to attract several thousands of new specialists to the sphere,” Avoyan said.

He noted it is very important to develop programming skills of children who already study at 5th and 6th forms.

“Armenia is already making the first steps in this direction, particularly, in 2013 robotics classes will be taught in 50 schools all over the country, and in future such robotics clubs will be opened in all schools of the republics,” he said.

He also reminded Armenian Engineering Lab will open in September, which can involve up to 2,000 highly qualified specialists.

“We should create such conditions for the young people so as they can set off their own organizations or bring to Armenia some large international companies to provide themselves with jobs. Robotics is one of the most perspective technological trends,” Avoyan said.

In 2000 the Armenian government announced IT sphere as an economic  priority. Today, nearly 350 IT enterprises with 10,000 employees operate in Armenia.—0-
