Armenia may introduce digitalization in cargo transportation
YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. Armenia said “yes” to the digitalization of road transport by joining the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (e-CMR), the press service of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) reported.
The digital protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (e-CMR) entered into force in Armenia last week, establishing a legal basis for fully paperless road freight transport in the country. Armenia became the 39th country to join e-CMR.
The transition from paper consignment notes to fully digital ones will increase the efficiency and safety of cargo transportation within Armenia and, ultimately, to neighboring countries.
By eliminating paperwork, electronic CMR reduces cargo handling costs, eliminates administrative and invoicing delays, and reduces discrepancies at the point of delivery.
e-CMR also increases transparency and security across the entire supply chain, providing more accurate shipment tracking data with real-time receipt and delivery information. -0-
