YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Representatives of Armenia may participate in Telecom Idea, a youth telecom innovation competition in Russia, VivaCell telecom, a subsidiary of Russian MTS, told ARKA.

It said the purpose of the contest, organized by MTS Group with the support of Russian ministry of communications and the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics is to find, support and promote innovative ideas and projects of young people. The competition, which runs from March to June, is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, academics and research institutions in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Belarus and Uzbekistan under the age of 35 years who can submit their ideas and projects separately or as teams.

Accepted are innovative projects which are at any stage - from idea to implementation and operation, including technical solutions and software for communication systems, new services, mobile and web-based applications, digital content, marketing and management solutions.

The winners will receive prizes and will be allowed to present their projects to the management of MTS Group and venture capital investors.

"We want new ideas to spread through a network model so that young talented people are not afraid of taking their ideas to the market. We want them to stay and work in Russia. We want the fruits of their intellectual work to serve as a source of pride and exports, including to CIS countries," Russian minister of communications, Igor Shchegolev, was quoted as saying.

The winners will be offered a foreign study tour, during which they will become familiar with the advanced achievements of world telecommunications industry, and exchange experience on innovative projects with foreign colleagues. The first contest Telecom Idea was held in 2011. -0-
