Armenia to develop R&D criteria for IT programs

YEREVAN, February 17. /ARKA/. A professional commission will be created in Armenia to develop and qualify R&D criteria and experimental programs in the IT sector, said High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan at a meeting with the Council of the ICT Employers' Union last Friday.
The initiative is aimed at stimulating scientific research and strengthening the scientific base in this area, the ministry's press service reported.
The minister presented a government decree adopted on February 13, 2025, which established a list of 32 types of activities in the IT sector that will receive state support and tax incentives. This will contribute to the development of the sector and the creation of new opportunities.
Representatives of the Union listed the existing problems and offered assistance in monitoring and increasing the effectiveness of regulations, improving related legislation for the development of the sector.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint efforts aimed at long-term and sustainable development of the high-tech sector in Armenia.-0-
