YEREVAN, July 1. /ARKA/. With the launch of a $500 million AI data center, Armenia will become a major player in the technology sector, according to Rev Lebaredian, vice president of NVIDIA and vice president of Omniverse & Simulation Technology.

“The center will become a place for initial research, based on which new promising companies will be created, and if we do everything right, Armenia will become a significant player,” Lebaredian said during a podcast with Narek Amirkhanyan.

He explained that without technology and leadership in the field of technology, Armenia has no chance of having a good economy, and without a good economy, Armenia has no chance of becoming important to other countries, and without that, Armenia will not have security.

“Now we have a small ‘window’ opening up, through which Armenia will have an advantage,” Lebaredian emphasized.

According to him, this is not just a business in which hundreds of millions of dollars are planned to be invested. “With the AI data center project in Armenia, we are planting a seed that will give Armenia an advantage over other countries. We are still at the beginning of our journey. We must build it,” Lebaredian noted.

In turn, one of the participants in the data center project, co-founder and chairman of the board of directors of Team Telecom Armenia, Alexander Yesayan, said that the launch date for the AI data center has already been set.

“Definitely, our goal is for the center to be operational by the end of this year,” Yesayan said during the Rearrange podcast.

He said that NVIDIA is committed to delivering the equipment. “Discussions are ongoing with the US State Department and the US Embassy in Armenia, which are supporting us. This is a very complex project, but we have been able to manage the various pieces of this puzzle,” Yesayan said.

About the data center project

Earlier it was reported that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group will join forces to create the most powerful supercomputer and data center in the region based on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

The AI data center project in Armenia, which will receive $500 million in investment, will become a platform for innovation, education, science, and entrepreneurship, stimulating the development of local and international startups, connecting science and technology, and turning Armenia into a regional tech hub—a real place for AI creation. This will radically change the technological map of the region.

The equipment will be purchased from NVIDIA, a world-leading manufacturer of such technology, and the data center will be owned by the newly created company Firebird. Other participants include Dell. As part of the project, which is scheduled to launch in 2026, thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPU microprocessors will be installed and an infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW will be created. -0-
