YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. By 2027, Armenia's Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence is expected to offer access to Firebird AI computing resources, as stated today by High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

Hayrapetyan emphasized that the Virtual Institute is aimed at students, startups, and researchers, who can apply for and obtain subsidized access to a supercomputer and various international services.

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry has launched the Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence (ai.gov.am) in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Mistral AI, a prominent European artificial intelligence firm.

This platform is open to technology companies, researchers, and innovators, providing support throughout the entire R&D and product development value chain.

The minister also highlighted ongoing partnerships with Mistral AI, AWS, and Firebird AI. Notably, Firebird AI has revealed plans to invest around $500 million in Armenia to establish a significant artificial intelligence data center.

About the AI data center project

It was previously announced that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group will collaborate to develop the region's most powerful supercomputer and data center utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

The $500 million AI data center initiative in Armenia aims to serve as a hub for innovation, education, science, and entrepreneurship, fostering the growth of local and international startups, bridging the divide between science and technology, and positioning Armenia as a regional tech center—a concrete destination for AI advancement. This will significantly alter the technological landscape of the region.

The equipment will be sourced from NVIDIA, the leading global manufacturer in this field, and the data center will be operated by the newly established company Firebird. Other contributors include Dell. The project is set to commence in 2026, deploying thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and establishing infrastructure with a capacity exceeding 100 MW.-0-
