Armenia's Cyber Police Warns of TikTok Scams Offering Fake "Social Benefits"
YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. The Cyber Police of Armenia has issued a warning regarding a new scam that is spreading on the TikTok social network.
"Posts are being shared on this platform, misleading Armenian citizens into believing they can receive a benefit of 300,000 drams from a 'social fund.' These posts invite users to click a link and submit applications within a short timeframe," the agency stated in its announcement.
The Cyber Police emphasized that these criminals are actually trying to steal users' personal and banking details (such as bank card numbers, PINs, CVVs, one-time codes, etc.), which could result in financial theft.
The agency strongly advised against clicking on any suspicious links or providing any information in the so-called 'application,' reminding everyone that state and social services in Armenia do not request personal or banking information via social media. "Fraudsters exclusively utilize Armenian .am domains (for instance, mlsa.am, socservice.am, mia.gov.am, moh.am, e-request.am)," the agency clarified.-0-
