Armenia Presents Program for Government Agencies to Access HPC Resources for AI with AWS

YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia held a meeting to present a state support program aimed at providing access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources in the field of artificial intelligence.

The meeting, organized on February 5 as a joint initiative of the Ministry and Amazon Web Services (AWS), was attended by representatives of the tech community, startups, research groups, students, and industry specialists.

First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan presented the initiative's strategic vision, goals, and practical implementation mechanisms. He noted that the program is one of the ministry's key strategic initiatives and is aimed at the sustainable and long-term development of the artificial intelligence ecosystem in Armenia.

Mantashyan also discussed the format of government support, the principles for selecting beneficiaries, and the opportunities the program provides to researchers, students, startups, and technology companies.

According to him, during the pilot phase of the program, the cost of high-performance computing resources actually used by selected beneficiaries will be fully subsidized by the state, and technical expert support from AWS will also be provided.

The role of the Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence as an operational platform for accepting applications, identifying applicants, and allocating resources, as well as an environment for collaboration and knowledge sharing, was emphasized.

A question and answer session concluded the meeting, during which participants received clarification on the program's terms and conditions, requirements, and implementation procedures. Current infrastructure challenges in the field of artificial intelligence and the importance of public-private partnerships for overcoming them were also discussed. -0-
