YEREVAN, September 2. /ARKA/. The work on creating a large-scale AI data center in Armenia worth $500 million was discussed by RA High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and co-founder of Firebird and Team Telecom Alexander Yesayan.

Yesayan presented the work done on the AI ​​data center project, current strategic and technical issues that arose on the way to its implementation. In particular, the issues of the optimal choice of the final location, its infrastructure and current tasks to ensure a stable power supply were touched upon.

The minister emphasized the importance of the role of this center in the development of the technological ecosystem of Armenia.

This project involves the installation of thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processors and the creation of infrastructure with a capacity of more than 100 megawatts.

Summing up the discussion, the parties identified ways to solve problems, reached agreements on planning further steps and successful implementation of the project.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan and Enterprise Armenia representative Vahagn Mughnetsyan.

About the data center project

Earlier it was reported that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird and Team Group will join forces to create the most powerful supercomputer and data processing center in the region based on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

The AI ​​data center project in Armenia, in which $500 million will be invested, will become a platform for innovation, education, science and entrepreneurship, stimulating the development of local and international startups, ensuring the connection of science and technology, turning Armenia into a regional tech hub - a real place for the creation of AI. This will radically change the technological map of the region.

The equipment will be purchased from NVIDIA - the world's top manufacturer of such equipment, the owner of the data center will be the newly created company Firebird. Among the other participants is Dell. The project, scheduled to launch in 2026, will house thousands of NVIDIA's Blackwell GPUs and create infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW.
