Armenia discusses introduction of digital radio with WorldDAB
YEREVAN, May 8. /ARKA/. Armenian High-Tech Industry Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received experts from the international digital radio industry organization WorldDAB to discuss the vision and most effective and safe ways to introduce digital radio in the country.
The discussion was attended by WorldDAB Technical Committee Chairman, BBC Chief Digital Systems Architect Lindsay Cornell and Communications Manager William Jackson. The meeting was also attended by Director of the "Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia" Narek Adamyan.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry, the discussion covered models for the implementation of digital radio broadcasting networks, in particular, membership models in DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus) broadcasting networks, policies and experiences of other countries in terms of providing vehicles and the population with digital radio receivers, regulations and restrictions successfully implemented in the market, the implementation of an emergency notification system, airwave protection, in particular, preventing the penetration of radio frequencies from other countries, as well as a number of issues that contribute to the rapid establishment and development of the ecosystem.
The parties reached agreements on cooperation, further steps and events.
On May 6-7, a conference entitled “Prospects of Digital Radio in Armenia” was held in Armenia on the initiative of the “Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia” and with the support of the Ministry of High Technology Industry. Leading experts in this field, including WorldDAB experts, participated in it to discuss the prospects and vision of digital radio in Armenia.
