Armenia could become a magnet for global AI giants, says Team Telecom Armenia CEO
YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. From a technological standpoint, Armenia has a very ideal geographical location, located between Europe and Asia, said Team Telecom Armenia CEO Hayk Yesayan.

"In terms of sending and receiving data, Armenia is the shortest route. Our country is very attractive for both markets. We can provide services not only in our region, but also in European and Asian markets," Yesayan said at a panel discussion at the "Future of the Banking System: Innovations and Development Prospects" forum, taking place in Yerevan on September 23-24.

According to him, great opportunities are opening up thanks to the AI data center project, which is unique to the region and is currently being built in Armenia with the participation of NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group.

"Large international companies working in artificial intelligence today will be very interested in using resources in Armenia. The fact that Armenia as a country is of interest to such large companies changes everything," Yesayan said, noting that if peace is established, the projects will become even more ambitious.

About the data center project

It was previously reported that the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group will join forces to create the region's most powerful supercomputer and data center based on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

The AI data center project in Armenia, which will receive $500 million in investment, will become a platform for innovation, education, science, and entrepreneurship, stimulating the development of local and international startups, facilitating the connection between science and technology, and turning Armenia into a regional tech hub—a true destination for AI development. This will radically change the technological landscape of the region.

The equipment will be purchased from NVIDIA, a leading global manufacturer of such equipment, and the newly established Firebird company will own the data center. Dell is also participating. The project, scheduled to launch in 2026, will deploy thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and create infrastructure with a capacity of over 100 MW.
