YEREVAN, February 3. /ARKA/. Armenia is among the few countries where pilot programs on artificial intelligence are already being implemented in the school education system, announced Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan at the EducAItion 2026 conference in Israel.
"Experimental AI courses have already been introduced into the educational process," Andreasyan said at an event dedicated to the development of personalized education policies in the context of AI development.
Among the key initiatives, she named the "Generation AI" program for high schools, STEP.AI, as well as the multi-level educational initiative "AI Generation," aimed at training AI specialists from school to postgraduate education.
Andreasyan reported that the programs cover dozens of schools across the country, involving hundreds of teachers and more than 600 students.
Collaboration with the IT Sector
As the Minister noted, the projects are pilot projects and are being implemented in partnership between the government and leading IT companies.
Program participants develop mathematical and programming skills, as well as AI literacy, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
Higher Education
According to Andreasyan, educational programs at Armenian universities are also focused on in-depth training in artificial intelligence.
During her speech, the topic of international technology events was also touched upon, including WCIT 2024, which was held in Armenia for the second time.
TUMO and Generative AI
The Minister presented the activities of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, which is launching an educational program on generative AI. It is aimed at developing comprehensive AI literacy among young people.
Plans for the Decade
According to the Minister, by the end of the decade, more than 80% of Armenian schools plan to implement educational modules on artificial intelligence.
