“Haypost” will deal with customs clearance of post packages from abroad

YEREVAN, February 4. /ARKA/. Armenian post operator CJSC “Haypost” takes responsibility of implementation of customs intermediary of post packages from abroad, said Gurgen Sargsyan, Armenian Minister of Transport and Communications. It was due to changes and amendments of government decree as of November 30, 2006 according to which the function of “Customs intermediary activity” is put on “Haypost”.

Prior to the decree, “Haypost” had no right to deal with customs clearance of incoming packages.

It resulted in contacting of Armenian citizens to customs which caused obstacles and delayed the process of receiving packages, especially when the addressees were from regions.

Implementation of customs intermediary activity will allow “Haypost” to increase quality of its services, facilitate post services and increase accessibility for broader layers of society.

Tigran Sargsyan, Prime Minister of Armenia said that citizens complain about the absence of such services.

“Customs clearance is rather long and difficult process and “Haypost” bears responsibility for it. Thus, the process will be accessible and more facilitated for the citizens”, said Sargsyan.

On November 30, 2006 agreement on transfer of “Haypost" under Dutch “Haypost Trust Management" for 5 years with prolongation of the agreement for another 5 years.

CJSC “Haypost” is a national post operator of Armenia and operates via 900 post departments throughout Armenia. G.K. --0--
