Rostelecom representative discloses details of new data center in Armenia
YEREVAN, July 6. /ARKA/. Mikhail Razbaev, Commercial Director of Rostelecom Armenia, disclosed to ARKA News Agency some details of a data center the company is building in Armenia.
"It will be the largest data center in Armenia. According to Russian standards, a data center with 200 racks is considered a small center, but since Armenia is a small country, and the needs are not very high yet and the level of digitalization is not high, this number of racks (200) will be enough for the first stage," he said.
Razbaev added that the commercial data center will have also fairly large cloud of 20,000 cores.
"The center will meet all the necessary standards in order to have the necessary redundancy, power, so that businesses have guarantees of continuous operation of the data center," he said.
According to him, the center's building has already been built, equipment has been purchased, and construction is proceeding as planned. Approximately the center will be fully ready by the autumn.
"Starting next January we will be able to provide the commercial part of the infrastructure to house equipment, we can help partners with that, etc. It will really be a professional data center with all the necessary infrastructure," he said.
Asked whether there are companies, which are interested in cooperation with Rostelecom, Razbaev said that the company has already received many requests from local and international partners.
GNC-Alfa (Armenian subsidiary of Rostelecom) has been promoting and selling telecommunication services in Armenia under Rostelecom brand since December 2012. The fiber-optic network of the company covers 80% of the territory of the country and has a length of more than 2.5 thousand km.
